Department of Clinical Physics & Bioengineering (NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde) - Urology Physics

Urology is the surgical specialty that investigates and treats malignant and benign disorders of the urinary and urogenital systems. Greater Glasgow and Clyde have experts in reconstructive urology, urology in spinal injury, laparoscopic urological surgery, basic science of prostate cancer, endourology for stone disease and others. Collaboration with DCPB in urology has its origins in electrical stimulation of motor nerves pioneered by David Rowan whose interest led on to the development of urodynamics. Currently we have come full circle and supply a physics service to the national services division sacral nerve root neuromodulation service for functional disorders of the lower urinary tract.
