Clinical Service

The section provides critical software solutions that ensure the smooth running and maximised potential of a number of clinical services in NHS GGC, including theatres, dietetics, anaesthetics, etc. The section also provides technical expertise to DCPB with close ties to the Health Physics section which is vital to the provision of radiation protection in the west of Scotland.

Research and Development

The section is active in a number of areas: Anaesthetics, Critical care, Neuroscience, Artificial intelligence, Imaging, Medical Informatics and Knowledge based refinement with a side line into the study of expertise. It also provides its unique skills and know how in data collection and analysis to the University Sect of Anaesthetics, Pain and Critical Care management which has proved a fruitful association over the many years of collaboration. The section has been privileged enough to have its staff as invited speakers at the European Society for Computing and Technology in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (ESCTAIC) international conference. As well as members sitting on at least one international research steering comity (BrainIT technical group) and one national steering comity (Care of Burns in Scotland managed clinical network).
